Innofocus has served Western Uusimaa since 1974. In 1998 Innofocus had 5232 students, 300 cooperation partners, and a staff of 78 permanent teachers and about 200 consultants. Principal: Esko Louhelainen.
PROFESSIONAL DIVING INSTRUCTION AT INNOFOCUS has exercised professional divers' training since 1995. Main training sectors are:
1. Underwater research worker (1360 h) Instruction in accordance with ADVANCED EUROPEAN SCIENTIFIC DIVER standards.
2. Diving trainer and guide (1400 h) Instruction according to PADI ja CMAS systems and results in the national tourism examination (system services as line of specialization). Training produces professional specialists in experience tourism for the world's diving centers.
3. Underwater constructor (1600 h) Instruction results if the national professional diver's examination.
Professional diving education has always been organized in accordance with the national examination system. By the time Innofocus has become a IDSA full member (in 1999), the requirements of IDSA have been respected.
Training in Finland has to be carried out considering arctic and dark conditions (winters are predominantly frosty and dark, and the waters are cold even in summer). So the professional diving training is considerably more large-scaled than presumed in the IDSA standards.
